New Season Trends In Women’s Fashion From Debenhams

Last Updated : 13 February 2020

Spring is fast approaching and this is always a great time to update your wardrobe a little bit. Spring trends change so fast and it’s good to keep up with what’s hot. Debenhams have suggested four big trends for their new season collection and we love every single one! We’ve also had a browse and chosen our favourite items from each trend to give you an idea of what’s out there. Which Trend do you like the most?

Trapeze dresses

A trapeze dress is a very forgiving style of dress so we’re pretty chuffed that they will be big this season. They are characterized by long layers that get biggers as they flow down giving an almost tent-like effect. They are undeniably airy and comfortable, the perfect style for relaxed spring days shopping or hanging out with friends.

Principles - Black Bloom Print 'Bella' Trapeze Midi Dress

Principles bloom print trapeze midi dress

Our first dress is this gorgeous little number from Principles, it has a bright bloom pattern across it and maintains a cinched in waist which is important with a trapeze dress so you don’t get drowned out. We love the casual boho style and the balloon sleeves are another feature that adds more comfort. You can spruce this dress up or down depending on your mood and team it with accessories so you can wear it day or night. As you can see it goes well with a cool leather jacket. Get it from Debenhams now for just £39.

Dorothy Perkins - Petite Black Spot Print Smock Dress

Dorothy Perkins Spot Print Dress

Our second trapeze dress is this one from Dorothy Perkins, we love the length of this one along with the light simple fabric that gives the impression you’ll be cool and comfortable in warmer spring weather. This dress also has balloon sleeves with cute ties at the end. Dress it up with a pair of knee-high boots and a long line coat or make it super casual with a pair of flat boots and a denim jacket. Now available at Debenhams for only £28.

Modern Florals

Florals are big every year around springtime with good reason after all. This year it’s very much about dainty print s and big contrasting colours. This trend is one that can be integrated with other trends for this year such as the trapeze dress so you’ll be effortlessly on-trend and up to date.

Vila - Multicoloured Floral Print 'Floma' Tie Waist Short Length Dress

Vila floral print tie waist dress from Debenhams

We love the contrasting prints on this Vila dress, it has a relaxed feel and Indi style that is so in at the moment. The v neckline and tie around the waist to synch it in creates a flattering silhouette on any shape of size. We also think the elbow-length sleeves are very flattering. It’s made of 100% polyester and is £38. We’d team it with some heeled boots and a cosy cardigan.

Oasis - Multicoloured Violet Floral Lace Trim Skater Dress

Oasis Violet Floral Lace Trim Skater Dress

This floral skater dress from Oasis ticks all the boxes for modern florals. The dainty flowers pop against this black background and the orange and purple hues contrast perfectly. The high neckline with lace detailing is feminine but keeps the dress from being over the top as the length is mini and does showcase a fair amount of leg. We think this dress is perfect for a spring evening out, what’s more, it’s now in the sale at Debenhams and had almost a tenner knocked off the price making it just £38.40.

Prairie

The prairie trend is our favourite, it includes lots of folk-inspired fabrics and cuts and is a slightly fresher take on the bohemian style. Nothing is more casual of appears more comfortable while being effortlessly chic.

Red Herring - Black Daisy Print Mesh Maxi Skirt

Red Herring Black Daisy Print Mesh Maxi Skirt

How ladylike is this stunning skirt? We’ll admit we’ve added one to our basket already as it was love at first sight. Its pleated mesh design and delicate daisy fabric it can be made very feminine or given a harder cool note when paired with boots and an edgy jacket. The elasticated waist also makes for a free range of movement and full comfort. This Red Herring beauty is only £29.

Mantaray - Natural Recycled Yarn Waterfall Cardigan

Mantaray Recycled Waterfall Cardigan from Debenhams

We’ve moved away from dresses this time and opted for this fantastic waterfall cardigan from Mantaray. This stunning piece is made out of 100% recycled materials making it a very conscious choice. We love the casual feel of the waffle knit pattern and the waterfall front is very forgiving as it cascades down you front skimming over any bits you’d rather hide. Considering the quality and ethical nature of this garment it is fantastic value at £45.

Animal Print

Animal Print is our last big spring 2020 trend and we are here for it. Has animal print ever really been off-trend is our only question? Add a touch of leopard print or a splash of zebra and you instantly bring a little glamour to any old outfit.

Dorothy Perkins - Yellow Animal Print Twist Sleeves Cotton T-Shirt

Dorothy Perkins Animal Print Twist Sleeve Cotton T-Shirt

We love this cute T-shirt from Dorothy Perkins, it is the perfect example of how animal print can spruce up an otherwise boring outfit. Black jeans and plain shoes are transformed from bland to spicy with this bright pop of leopard print and adorable twisted sleeves. It’s only £14 fright now from Debenhams.

Hobbs - Multicoloured 'Mina' Trainers

Hobbs Mina Trainers from Debenhams

Our last pick is also our most extravagant, these Hobbs trainers are a little more expensive but the quality is so fantastic they’re worth the investment. They are round toed with a tie fasten and the leopard print pattern is hair on giving them a luxurious tactile feel. They will set you back £129 but we think they’re well worth it.

Which has been your favourite of our top picks? We hope you’re as excited about this year’s hottest trends as we are. Visit the Debenhams website for the full ranges and start updating your wardrobe.
