First Choice Holidays – a brief history

The company now known as First Choice Holidays, was incorporated in 1973, however they were initially known as ‘Owners Abroad.’ The company decided to list itself on the Stock Exchange in 1982. During 1987, the company decided to establish their own airline which they named ‘Air 2000’ which initially only flew from Manchester to Malaga. This changed to ‘First Choice Airways’ in 2004.

Deciding that they wanted to extend their operations (and having grown large enough to do so), Owners Abroad acquired a company called ‘Redwing’ in 1990, and in 1994, they changed their name to the now-famous ‘First Choice.’ The company enjoyed numerous years of successful trading when they merged with TUI AG in 2007. Just one year later, the company decided to change the airline company to ‘Thomson Airways’ and in 2011, the ‘First Choice’ brand was used for holidays only.

Le Morne (Mauritius)

Thailand

Phuket has its range of restaurants, bars and live music, as well as 40 kilometres of coastline which produces some of the world’s most beautiful scenery. People travel to Phuket for diving and also parties – it is a good place to go to mix the two.

To get away from parties and Thailand’s wilder side - Khao Lak is one of the quietest yet most spectacular locations in Thailand. It has 3 national parks, and a vast array of cliffs, waterfalls and tropical forests. If this sounds too energetic, you could simply choose to sunbathe on the glorious Khao Lak beaches.
