Christmas markets are just another way to add a touch of magic to this time of year. You can spend a whole afternoon just wondering around choosing some bespoke gifts, sipping hot mulled apple cider and nibbling on warm caramelised mixed nuts.

Hyde Park is a wonderful open space in the heart of the city and for Christmas time it is transformed into a breath-taking winter wonderland for six weeks of the year. Some of its biggest talking points are the world’s tallest transportable observation wheel and the Magical Ice Kingdom which this year has a Christmas Carol theme.

The Birmingham Frankfurt Christmas Market is the largest authentic German Christmas Market outside of Germany. Southbank Winter Wonderland is nestled on the bank of the river Themes which does become a dreamy winter wonderland at this time of year. Again you’ll discover stunning handmade bespoke gifts housed in inviting wooden chalets.

Find the big Christmas tree and take a picture with your shopping buddies before hitting the street for stalls and chowing down on some yummy treats from around the world. We love the sound of the circus bar the best, you get to surround the fire pit and sip warm hot chocolate before finding the secret cinema and watching a holiday classic on beanbags in the warm. Perfect.

Leeds Christkindelmarkt

The annual Leeds Chriskindlemarkt transforms the city's millennium square every year with the addition of over 40 chalets selling a huge range of festive goods. After you’ve shopped you’ll discover traditional German foods and drink to sample plus an authentic carousel to take a spin on which will round off the visit perfectly.

The Alp Chalet can be found at the centre of the market offering a chance to get warm and snug inside before you head out once more. Free children’s entertainment can also be found most days on the main stage. Fun to be had for the entire family.

Manchester Christmas Markets

Manchester's Christmas Market is an event that encompasses the entire city with over 300 stalls and chalets found in almost every corner of the centre. Albert Square is the hub with the highest concentration of stalls however and also feature the food area where you can pick up warm authentic German food alongside many other cuisines from around the world. There is such a choice.

The hot spicy mulled wines come in branded mugs you can return or choose to take home as a keepsake. It’s up to you. Follow the festive trail through the city today.

Winchester Christmas Markets

Winchester Christmas Market Scene

Winchester Christmas Market sits in the shadow of the city’s iconic cathedral, giving this 100 chalet market one of the most picturesque locations and surroundings. There is also an ice rink nearby so you can make a family day out of any visit.

Last year this market was voted 2nd in the UK by Booking.com. Each store is handpicked for its unique products, many of them handmade, which you simply will not be able to find on the high-street.

Edinburgh Christmas Market

Edinburgh’s Christmas Market is around for one of the longest times of all the markets we’ve chosen this year. Meaning you can hold on tight to that festive feeling for over a week after the big day itself. You will find them located on East Princes Street Gardens.

This charming market features Bavarian-inspired stalls offering artisan gifts and stocking fillers, yummy festive foods and hot spicy drinks. You will also find Santa’s grotto, funfair rides, the big wheel and Santa’s train, all of which will entertain the kids all day. Plan your visit now and make Christmas come alive.
