Christmas Eve Box Ideas
A Christmas Eve box is fast becoming a tradition amongst young families. This a box full of goodies, that is given to the kids on Christmas Eve that is chock full of goodies to help them see Christmas in with a smile. Parents can get in on the action too and the whole family can get boxes if they wish but it’s all about the kids and creating a sense of magic for them.
We’ve had a look at some ideas for items to full the box and have added them here so you guys can easily put one for your little elves. It’s the most wonderful time of the year after all.
Christmas Eve Box with Reindeer
The first thing you need is the box itself. There is a lot of choices out there now. you can find them for as little as a fiver, some are plainer than others and some are intricate wooden and personalised. If you’re feeling thrifty you could even grab a toy box and let the kids decorate it in time for the day.
This one we’ve chosen is stunning and white with the name of the child on the front. It’s from Gettingperdonal.com and its only £19.99. You can also order it in natural wood. There is an attractive clasp opening that adds a whimsical touch and it’s decent size means you have plenty of space for goodies.
Matching Family Merry Christmas Pyjamas
Next, you need new pyjamas to wear that night. Family matching pyjamas are the new thing this year so be sure to pick up a pair for the entire family. Nothing brings a family closer together than matching clothes.
We’ve gone with Amazon for the nightwear and this Merry Christmas set. There are options available for mummy, daddy, and children up to 11 years old. We love the long sleeves on the top and the stylish striped trousers. Grab a pair for just £4.99 now and store them ready for Christmas eve.
Milk Chocolate Santa
Chocolate is next on the list of essential Christmas Eve box items. It doesn’t matter if it’s a favourite brand, chocolate coins or like we’ve chosen a chocolate Santa there has got to be some of the sweet stuff nestled in there.
This milk chocolate Santa we’ve chosen is from Thornton’s and can be personalised if you wish. It’s now just £1 down from £8 so well worth the money to see them light up when they find it.
Hot Chocolate Sticks
We’re sticking with chocolate for our next item. What is a night in with the family without a steaming mug of hot cocoa? These chocolate sticks came from The Gourmet Chocolate Pizza Company and come in four flavours, Smooth Mocha (one for the adults) Salted Caramel Dark Choc Marshmallow and Milk Choc Marshmallow.
It comes as solid chocolate on a stick topped with sweets and you dip it in heated milk to melt it and make an indulgent drink. Kids will love watching it melt. Each stick is just £2.95 so you can afford to get a few to last you the entire festive season.
The Polar Express on DVD
Once you’re all in your pyjamas and are snuggled on the sofa with your chocolate treats it time to watch a family movie surely? A Christmas movie is a great way to get everybody in the mood for the next day. Our personal favourite is The Polar Express with Tom Hanks so we’ve included a link to the DVD but any movie you love as a family will do.
If you’re trying to be thrifty or perhaps don’t like lots of DVDs hanging around in this streaming era of television then you could write the Children a voucher for two hours of kid movie choice tv time and they then get to choose one from the streaming services you have. Now TV, for example, has an entire section devoted to Christmas movies.
Magic Reindeer Food
Part of the enchantment of Christmas Eve is setting the living room up for Santa’s arrival along with his reindeer. Everyone knows Santa likes a mince pie and either a glass of milk or a tot of Whiskey (depending on which dad prefers) and carrots are fairly popular to leave for the reindeer but we like to go one extra and get this magic reindeer food for them. After all, they’ll be pretty hungry after travelling from the North Poll.
This Reindeer food is from Not on the High Street and is oats and sugar star in attractive packaging. It is also fully biodegradable with no glitter or plastics and completely safe to eat if it’s eaten by accident. At £3.95 a pack it is worth it to see how happy you make your little ones when they leave it out right before bed.
Personalised Letter From Santa - Santa's List
Our last addition to the Christmas Eve box is a latter from the big man himself. Yes at funkypigeon.com you can order and personalise a letter from Santa to give to your child. It’s only £4.99 and allows you to name the child, congratulate them on personal achievement, say you’ll try to get them a gift they’ve been wishing for and even name their home town.
Kids will get so excited with their letters from Santa and will hopefully be hardly able to contain their excitement for the next day and with a bit of luck will go to sleep with no trouble so morning will come sooner. It’s the perfect plan.
We hope this list has inspired your Christmas Eve boxes if you’ve been struggling. There are so many things you can add that we didn’t include in ours. Games and colouring books, reading books for before bed, other snacks and mince pies for Santa, the list of potential items is endless depending on what you value and enjoy as a family.
Christmas can be a manic time and occasionally you’re so busy running around you don’t have time to stop and relax with your loved ones, we love Christmas Eve boxes as they give you a reason to do just this.
