The company began their journey in the USA, being founded in 1960 by Tom Monaghan. He initially bought a small pizza shop named DomiNicks, resulting in the household name pizza lovers worldwide know all too well: Dominos Pizza.
The iconic logo, comprised of the three dots on a dominos tile, represent the three original stores that Tom had already opened upon creation of the logo. The plan was to add an additional dot for each store opened… but this idea became impossible due to the success and subsequent openings of so many stores!
The business’ idea that Tom laid out over 50 years ago, and his philosophy about quality pizza-making, still remains an integral part of what makes Dominos such an important brand today - delivering hot, freshly made pizza, in as quick a time as possible, whilst also playing an active role in the local community.
After thriving in his home-town in the US, the godfather of Domino's Pizza then kicked off their franchise business, encouraging others to open their own store.
The first batch of UK stores opened in 1985, appearing in Luton, Bedfordshire. This franchise model has now flourished in the UK as there are now more than 850 stores up and down the country, making it the nation’s largest pizza brand. Last year alone they sold almost 90 million pizzas – including 7 million of its most popular choice, the mouth-watering Pepperoni Passion.
That tasty pizza you love is made to order, only using the finest quality ingredients. Each pizza is made from scratch with fresh dough, and then finished with vine-ripened tomato sauce and real mozzarella. The vast selections of toppings are then fully customisable or can be selected from a set menu to help you choose. Pizzas are then delivered in quick succession, making sure you’re left as a satisfied customer rather than a hungry one.
And it’s not just delicious pizzas you can order… Don’t forget about Dominos' unique garlic bread, potato wedges and of course puddings, as well as many other optional extras. Restaurant also offers various vegetarian options, a huge array of dips and salads, as well as items by top brands such as Ben & Jerry’s and Coca Cola. This means there really is something for everyone… and they even sell wraps for those of you who don’t fancy a pizza!
You can even create your own pizza, name it, and upload it for the world to see, using Dominos' unique Pizza Legend scheme.
Plus it’s so easy to order pizza online now and have it delivered quickly from your local store of this fab pizza chain.

Dominos pride themselves on their quick and simple ordering options, aiming to give the customer (you!) as much control over your order as possible!
Once you have ordered your food you can track your online orders using the app or on the website. You can see when it's being baked, going through a quality check, and finally when it's on its way – this gives you the perfect idea as to when to get the drinks in and the film on.
If you’re struggling to decide whether you want savoury or sweet, or if you can’t decide between a pudding or a pizza – why not order the brand new and exclusive, Lotta-Chocca Pizza: a 6-inch dough base, topped with melted milk chocolate. It’s sure to satisfy every craving you have!
Dominos are also committed to the good health of its customers. Therefore, they publish the nutritional profiles of over 1,000 combinations of pizza, and also include a Pizza Planner to help you fit a pizza into your healthy eating plan!

Domino's really values the local community, and all of its stores are involved with their local areas – be it through donating pizzas or sponsoring particular local events.
Additionally, Domino's stores often invite kids from local schools in for tours, and give them a lesson in exceptional pizza making – making the trip both educational and extremely fun.
In terms of its charity work, Domino's is heavily involved with and supportive of Rays of Sunshine, as well as Special Olympics Great Britain. The former is a charity that grants ‘wishes’ to children with terminal illnesses. Domino's has also selected Teenage Cancer Trust as its official charity partner in the UK, as it aims to increase the life chances of those between the ages of 13 and 24 with cancer.
On top of all this, Domino's was also the very first company to team up with Pennies – an organisation known as 'the electric charity box'. This scheme allows customers to round up their orders to the nearest pound, with the aforementioned charities benefiting from such acts.
Domino's online aim is to provide the best possible customer service, and this means getting your food arriving to your door on time and still piping hot. There may be a few obstacles which could hinder the speedy delivery time and that may be due to weather conditions or an accident on the roads – but Domino's are always there to sort out any issue you may have.
It is their aim to give exceptional customer service at all times, in order to provide you with the best takeaway experience possible. In addition, Domino's ensure that their staff members always handle the rush, champion their customers, and – most importantly – respect others.
The team is an essential part of what makes Domino's so immensely popular! Comprising of 35,000 members across over a thousand stores, they are taught leadership skills, and empowered into moving into higher positions – all the while providing you, the customer, with fantastic service.
