Want to know a little more about TK Maxx and how they work? Check out their history below.
TK Maxx started off as TJ Maxx by Bernard Cammarata in Framingham Massachusetts. They didn’t open in Europe until 1994, when the first store in Bristol opened.
The name was changed to TK Maxx to avoid confusion with T J Hughes, an already established retail chain. The brand expanded quickly opening up all over the world, but mainly in Europe. This slowed down in 2007, when the brand decided to concentrate on revamping old stores to give it more of a clean looking design.
The brand has been through its fair share of controversy including a spat with the Crown Estate when they tried to open a store in Piccadilly. The estate didn’t think the brand had the right image so rejected their plans. Max Clifford launched a campaign in support of the brand, however it failed leaving The Sting, a Dutch retailer to take their space.
TK Maxx have such a varied array of products, it’s hard to pick which is the best. They have incredible ranges that keep your home and wardrobes exciting and fresh.
Although they offer homeware online and in their stores, TK Maxx also have a sister company called Homesense. Similar to TK Maxx, they offer designer brands at discounted prices. This focuses completely on the home offering kitchenware, furniture and various accessories.
